My Ending!!

You never will fully understand why a person chosed to commit suicide unless you was there with them or if they told you. As i sit here and think about the ending of the story I can't help but to wonder "Why", why did okonkwo kill the messenger and kill himself. Therefore, I think the ending should consist of Okonkwo leaving a letter and the letter should include why he killed the messenger and why he wanted to end his life.

The end is NEAR!!!!!

Chapter 10, oh such a wonderful chapter. I really liked this chapter because to me it was a great point in douglass's life. This chapter was when he developed a social network. Within this chapter douglass reveals his close friendship that he had developed at Freeland's and shows that he relies on friend's support. Although, Douglass appears throughout the story to be this strong willed and minded person, this point in the story shows his soft side. However, I feel that it's just human nature to want someone that you can talk to about your problems, a shoulder to cry on, or just someone to laugh with and Douglass is human.

Q & A

I decided to research the whole part of him marrying a white woman and if he felt as if he was wrong for doing so. When I read that Frederick had married a white woman I was shocked, shocked to learn that a man who had been through so much could marry someone from the race that had caused so much cruelty. When I researched the answer it basically made it appear as if Frederick felt he had did no wrong b/c he himself was partially white also, the article said "after the death of his first wife, Douglass married his former secretary, Helen Pitts, of Rochester, NY. Douglass dismissed the controversy over his marriage to a white woman, saying that in his first marriage he had honored his mother's race, and in his second marriage, his father's."

Check Me Out!!!!

First of all let me say Dr. Shattucks I am sorry for being late, but it really just slipped my mind. Now down to business, as i read and commented on the blogs, it was interesting to me how every one had different views about the story. I also liked the many different endings people came up with.

This story to me was overall a very interesting story. It is sometimes hard for me to focus, or shall I say put my attention into a story but for some reason this story just grew on me. Each day as i got further and further into the story I began to understand the characters in a more personal manor. I not only understand the characters, I respected them. I respected them for there past, present, and their future. I especially respected Sonny for his courage and will to continue. I can never relate directly to his whole drug problem but I can only image what he was going through, however, i am glad that he had a brother he could run to.

I Got The Blues!!

First of all let me say that I am not your average reader, better yet I'm not a reader at all, however, this was mandatory so I read it. I haven't quite finished "Sonny's Blues" yet, but it has caught my attention. I think this is a very deep story and I like how the character analyzes different situations and aspects of life. However, to me this is just your average black family living in the city and experiencing city life. It was one part in the story where I can relate to something that my mother always say, she always say " Oftenly in a situation it is never the person who has been doing wrong forever that get caught or messed up, it is the person who is a virgin in the game." In the beginning of the story when the dude was talking to sonny's brother, and told of how he first met sonny and sonny asked "How does it feel" that was a prime example to me of that. Most oftenly as young adults and teenagers as we begin to experience life we will begin to see why our parents have tried to instill in us their words of wisdom because it most oftenly it's true.

Me, Myself, & I

I am a 20 year old junior from Aliceville, Al. I am currently a biology major with the aspirations of becoming a physician. I am pretty much your average small town country girl with a little spice on the side. I am spontaneous, sometimes goofy, and most oftenly misunderstood as quiet. I love to just kick it and have fun, those are 2 necessities in life. I am the youngest of three girls, so you can only imagine how hard it was and still is being the baby sister, especially if you have a sister like mine. I have attended A&M for my whole undergraduate experience and I can say that it has been quite an experience; now don't get me wrong, it has it's ups and downs but I have enjoyed
